GATHER

Stacey Stephens

I went to Gather this past weekend and was totally blown away by the experience. It's a workshop for creative entrepreneurs AKA two whole days with people who also love paper and small businesses and who totally get me.

Check out these images just to see how incredibly beautiful each detail was:

The workshop was held in Britt Bass's studio and one we did a #studiosesh and each painted our own canvas. Also- could Britt be ANY cuter?

Kaitie Bryant spoke about creativity and lifestyle. She encouraged us to make space for creativity and play. Takeaway: set aside time each week to explore.  Find beautiful things that set me on fire.

Mattie Tiegreen, of Green Tie Studio, gave a mini branding session - how our work should be reflective of our personality. Takeaway: I'm striving to create work that evokes these feelings: fresh, warm, simple and friendly.

Mica May, Founder of May Designs and creator of May Books, shared her roller coaster story and the impact of marketing and social media. Her advice in a nutshell: Don't wait until you have it all figured out. Say yes and figure it out along the way! I loved her encouragement - "When someone says no, there's a better yes around the corner."

The a.m.a.z.i.n.g. Ashley Buzzy gave a killer talk about integrity - both in our personal lives and in our businesses. If we don't know what we stand for, how will our clients? Takeaway: figure out what I'm good at and go do that thing. Also: don't be afraid to say no!

Hillary Maloney wrapped up the weekend with advice about successful businesses. Stay curious. Always learn. Ask questions.

Feeling really thankful for the opportunity. My hope (and prayer) is that you'll be able to see this goodness and depth rub off in my work in the coming months. Kaitie and Mattie - thanks again for hosting us. New friends: so happy to have met you!!!

Final summary takeaway: community matters, y'all. To all my paper people and craft girls: I'm thankful for you!
